Biolab partners with Switzerland-based Sandoz to bring Owozy, a semaglutide product, to market<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

O The market for weight-loss pens continues to grow in Brazil<\/strong><\/a>. This week, the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) approved the first generic version of semaglutide, manufactured by the pharmaceutical company EMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Semaglutide is a substance used to manage type 2 diabetes and for weight loss. Until March of this year, Novo Nordisk was the only pharmaceutical company with exclusive rights to use semaglutide. However, now that the term has expired, other companies can invest in its production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A EMS was already an active player in the industry<\/strong><\/a> by developing\u2014and obtaining approval from Anvisa\u2014its own version of semaglutide, which has been named Ozivy. Under the pharmaceutical company\u2019s loyalty program, the drug is priced at R$ 333.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biolab and Sandoz<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, the 19th, another Brazilian pharmaceutical company also announced that it will launch its own brand of weight-loss pen.
Biolab Farmac\u00eautica, a group comprising six companies operating in various areas of health and nutrition, has entered into a partnership with the Swiss company Sandoz to launch Owozy\u2014a medication based on synthetic semaglutide\u2014in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new drug is expected to be available to the public by the fourth quarter of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
