With an investment of 10% of turnover in RD&I, the pharmaceutical company is betting on predictive AI, silver economy and technological exchange with Canada to boost global expansion

The pharmaceutical market is undergoing a strategic transformation in which innovation, corporate governance and technology are taking center stage. In the most recent episode of Biolab Cast, a Biolab Farmacêutica - one of the ten largest pharmaceutical companies in Brazil - brought together experts in technology and innovation to discuss how the company exceeded its 2025 targets and what strategies are shaping its growth for 2026.

Mediated by journalist Daiana Garbin, CEO of Biolab, Fabio Amorosino, received two members of the company's advisory board: João Bezerra Leite, former CTO of Itaú, and Paulo Gandolfi, President of 3M Brazil.

During the conversation, the executives emphasized that the company's results are directly linked to a model of governance that combines strategic rigor and agile decision-making, allowing the pharmaceutical company to transform global trends into health solutions for patients.

Governance and growth strategy

Fabio Amorosino took over as CEO after participating in the company's first Advisory Board, a phase in which the governance structure began to be consolidated. His transition to executive leadership took place gradually, with the accompaniment and experience of the partners Cleiton de Castro Marques, Paulo de Castro Marques and Dr. Dante Alario Júnior.

The company is now experiencing a new institutional moment with the integration of founders, independent directors and the second generation of shareholders, This move marks a stage of maturity in the company's corporate management. According to Amorosino, this combination of experience and renewal helps to keep the company competitive in an increasingly dynamic global scenario.

Technology and Pharma 4.0 drive innovation

Biolab Farmacêutica's strategy also involves robust investment in Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I), which today accounts for 10% of the company's turnover. The company is intensifying its journey towards Pharma 4.0, with the use of predictive artificial intelligence, factory automation and process digitalization, as well as strengthening its international presence with Canada as a gateway to new markets.

For João Bezerra Leite, digital transformation in the pharmaceutical sector requires more than simply digitizing old processes. “Digital transformation is not about digitizing old processes. It's about rethinking the way we work, taking advantage of technology to evolve and do things differently, and not just innovating for the sake of aesthetics,” he says.

The internationalization strategy is also gaining momentum with the arrival of Adriano Treve on the Advisory Board, broadening the company's view of the global healthcare ecosystem. Paulo Gandolfi emphasizes that this expansion goes beyond commercial presence. “It's not just about exports. It's an exchange of intelligence. We transfer technologies from there to here and from here to there, learning from the best in each market,” he explains.

Silver economy and longevity at the heart of the strategy

Another relevant theme of the episode was the so-called silver economy, This concept brings together opportunities related to an ageing population and longevity.

At Biolab, this trend is incorporated into both product development and people management. One example is the “3 in 1” pill for hypertension, which simplifies treatment and improves patient compliance.

At the same time, the company seeks to value professionals over the age of 50 within its corporate structure.

“The focus is on putting together a puzzle in which different generations complement each other,” said João Bezerra Leite.

According to him, longevity is no longer just a demographic statistic and has become a strategic pillar of branding and innovation in the health sector.

New innovation cycle for 2026

At the end of the conversation, Fabio Amorosino said that meeting the 2025 targets had created a new operational mentality within the company.

The Biolab Pharmaceuticals for 2026 is to maintain a continuous cycle of growth and innovation.

“We want to maintain a natural spiral of growth, in which each achievement becomes the starting point for the next innovation,” he concluded.
