Published in July 3, 2026

Registration begins next Monday (6)

The Dr. José de Carvalho Florence Municipal Hospital in São José dos Campos will host a major free health initiative focused on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in women. The event will take place on Saturday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Women’s Clinic. Organized by the women’s division of the São Paulo State Society of Cardiology (SOCESP Mulher), the initiative aims to provide 180 clinical examinations in a specially adapted mobile unit (trailer).

Spots are limited to women over the age of 18, and they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens next Monday (July 6) and runs through July 20; applications must be submitted exclusively via WhatsApp. (12) 99214-8744. When contacting us, the resident must provide her full name and her CPF number or CRA (Outpatient Registration Control) card number.

Patients who complete the pre-registration process will undergo a screening process and preventive cardiology exams. The health assessment includes blood pressure measurement, rapid blood glucose (blood sugar) and total cholesterol tests, as well as weight and height measurements, calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI), and measurement of waist circumference. In cases where the medical team identifies clinical abnormalities, an electrocardiogram (ECG) will be performed on the spot.

During the tour, an epidemiological questionnaire will also be administered to identify risk factors among women living in the area. If any patient has hypertension, diabetes, or arrhythmia and is not yet under medical care, she will be referred directly to a follow-up appointment at the Primary Health Care Center (UBS) serving her neighborhood.

Even those who are unable to sign up to take the exams in the mobile unit will be able to benefit from the event. The organizers will set up two educational tents in the hospital complex’s courtyard, with free access for the general public.

Throughout the morning, doctors, nurses, and student volunteers from medical school cardiology clubs will give short talks and provide practical guidance on the importance of combating a sedentary lifestyle, physical activity routines, dietary changes, and stress management to protect the heart. The initiative has the institutional support of the São José dos Campos City Government, SPDM (the Municipal Hospital’s managing entity), Hcor, Biolab Farmacêutica, as well as the brands Novartis and Omron.
